Ukraine’s security environment remains dynamic and requires organisations to maintain a high level of situational awareness. While frontline activity remains concentrated in the east and south, missile and long-range drone attacks continue to affect locations across the country, including major urban centres away from active combat.

Operational planning should therefore extend beyond geographical proximity to the front line. Organisations should consider factors including air defence activity, temporary movement restrictions, critical infrastructure disruption, power availability, and local authority guidance when assessing risk.

The operating environment can change with little notice. Air raid alerts, road closures, emergency services activity and infrastructure damage may all affect movement, logistics and business continuity. Maintaining access to verified information and having clear contingency plans allows organisations to adapt quickly while reducing operational disruption.

For organisations deploying personnel into Ukraine, security planning should be viewed as an ongoing process rather than a one-time assessment. Regular review of routes, accommodation, local developments and emergency procedures remains essential throughout any deployment.
